While dozens of LatetTikva children spent the Purim days making merry at Eilat’s top attractions, hundreds of other patients remained in their hospital beds. A bevy of National Civic Service volunteers thought about them too, and organized thousands of gift packages for children’s wards in hospitals throughout Israel. For several weeks, the volunteers worked hard at collecting the items from school children, from the north of Israel to the south.
A strong response by thousands of healthy children who prepared packages for the hospitalized patients and their families was warmly received. The volunteers, accompanied by other children and clowns, spread their joy in the children’s wards on Purim, handing out the packages, breaking out in song, and brining smiles to the faces of children they greeted with blessings of recovery and good health.
