Right before Rosh Hashana 5773 (2013) volunteers from LatetTikva visited hospitals to hand out 10,000 jars of honey. This wasn’t the first year that LatetTikva distributed honey, but beyond that tradition, this year our volunteers also handed out honey buns!
Loaded by crates of apples and honey buns, the volunteers spread out among the oncological departments of hospitals throughout Israel, while others came with their guitars and wind instruments and filled the wards with music and a honey bun for each child.
Every child received that bit of personal attention, entering the atmosphere of the New Year with a sweetness despite being in hospital.
The song that meant the most to everyone was “How good it will be next year…”
Volunteers wished the children good health in the coming year, and handed out honey buns with wishes for a sweet future with their families.
